Today is 15th August 2021 and India is celebrating its 75th independence day . The theme of India’s 75th Independence Day is ‘Nation first, always first.’
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL .
In India this day is celebrated to remind all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation and made our country free from British colonial .
But do you all know apart from India there are other 5 countries also which celebrates this particular day as independence day .
The countries are ——-
- Liechtenstein– It is a German-speaking microstate situated in the Alps and in the southwest of Central Europe. Its capital is Vaduz .
This country- Liechtenstein, one of the smallest countries of the world, gained independence from German rule in 1866 and celebrates August 15 as its National Day since 1940. On 5 August 1940, the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein officially declared August 15 to be the country’s national holiday. The day, for those of you who don’t know, is closely connected to the birthday of Prince Franz-Josef II on August 16, who was the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein from 1938 until his death in 1989.
2. Bahrain – An island country in the Persian Gulf. The island state is situated east of Saudi Arabia and north of Qatar. The archipelago consists of the main island Al Bahrayn and some smaller islands and islets. Its capital is Manana and official language is Arabic.
Bahrain Independence Day occurred on 15 August 1971, when the country declared independence from the British following a United Nations survey of the Bahraini population. The British announced the withdrawal of their troops east of Suez in the early 1960s.
Bahrain declared its independence on 15 August 1971,marked by the signing of a friendship treaty with the British that terminated previous agreements between the two sides.
Although 15 August is the actual date on which Bahrain gained its independence from the British, the kingdom does not celebrate or mark that date. Instead, the state annually celebrates 16 December as National Day, to coincide with the day that late Amier (ruler) Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa ascended to the throne. As such, 16 December is a national holiday and is usually celebrated with firework .
3. North Korea & South Korea
•North Korea and South Korea were formed after the division of Korea at the end of World War II in 1945 after the surrender of Japan. In Korea, National Liberation Day is called 광복절 (gwangbokjeol), which literally means “the restoration of light.” The holiday celebrated the end of a dark time in Korean history when the Japanese occupied the entire Korean peninsula.
Japan’s surrender had led to the division of Korea at the 38th parallel, with the Soviet Union occupying the north and the United States occupying the south.
•However, both Soviet Union and the United States failed to agree on a way to unify the country. They established two separate governments in 1948, the Soviet-aligned Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Western-aligned Republic of Korea. Each of the two governments claimed to be the legitimate government of the whole of Korea.
•Kim Il-sung led North Korea until his passing in 1994 and he was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-il. Kim Jong-il’s third son Kim Jong-un was introduced as his successor in September 2010. Kim Jong-un formally took over the power after his father’s passing on December 17, 2011.
Both North and South Korea celebrate Liberation Day on August 15. In fact, August 15 is one of the few holidays held simultaneously between North Korea and South Korea.
At this time, North Korea also celebrates the end of the Japanese Occupation. This special day is celebrated in North Korea by public ceremonies like Military Marches and parades.
4. Republic of Congo
The Congo Republic or simply either Congo or the Congo, is a country located in the western coast of Central Africa.
The Republic of Congo was under French colonial rule since the late 1800s. It finally gained independence on August 15, 1960. The country is bordered by Gabon to the west, Cameroon to its northwest and Central African and Central African Republic to the northeast and DR Congo to the southeast.
So basically this day is celebrated to keep alive the freedom of spirit and patriotism among the people .And also to enjoy the taste of freedom .
