Ever thought about how people are like flowers? For a while, we’re in full bloom, fresh and colorful. But eventually, that freshness fades, and that’s okay. It’s a natural part of life. And when you think about it, it’s actually a good reason to stay humble and grounded.
When we’re at our best—maybe at work, in relationships, or even just feeling on top of the world—it’s easy to feel like this will last forever. We get praise, recognition, maybe even a bit of admiration, and it’s tempting to think, “I’ve made it!” But here’s the thing: just like flowers, we won’t always stay at that peak. Over time, new blooms come along, and things change. What really lasts isn’t how fresh we stay, but how grounded and humble we are through all the seasons.
Think about someone you admire. Is it the person who flaunts their achievements, or the one who quietly goes about their work, always willing to help others, never acting “too good” for anyone? Humility is like that—it’s a reminder that even if you’re doing great now, life’s a long journey. Today, you might be at the top; tomorrow, someone else is shining. It’s a cycle, and everyone gets their turn.
Being humble also means recognizing the people who help us along the way. No one gets to the top alone. Our teachers, friends, family, and even random people we meet all play a role in shaping who we are. So why not keep that in mind and stay approachable, kind, and open? After all, the people who stay humble are the ones others remember fondly when their “freshness” starts to fade.
So here’s a little reminder to carry with you: enjoy your season of bloom, but remember that every season is fleeting. Humility keeps us connected, grounded, and loved, no matter where we are in life. After all, you can’t stay fresh forever, but you can stay kind and humble for as long as you choose. And that’s what really makes a lasting impression.
