Life built me a cage of gold,
With dreams they told and hands that hold.
A chain of “should” around my soul,
Each link a fear I can’t control.
I smiled inside, but barely breathed,
The weight of wanting never eased.
Until one day, the silence spoke—
“You’re not the cage. You are the smoke.”
So I unlatched what kept me bound,
Let silence be the only sound.
Detached from roles, from loss, from gain—
I walked away from cage and chain.
