One of the biggest energy-drainers in life is worrying about what others think.
โDid I say the wrong thing?โ
โDo they like me?โ
โWhat will they think if I fail?โ
Sound familiar?
Hereโs the truth: you cannot control other peopleโs opinions. No matter how kind, smart, or careful you are, someone will still misunderstand you, judge you, or simply not like youโand thatโs not a reflection of your worth. Itโs just human nature.
Everyone sees the world through their own lens. Their beliefs, experiences, moods, and insecurities all shape how they view you. You could do everything โright,โ and they might still see it differently. Thatโs their choice, not your failure.
So instead of constantly editing yourself to please others, try this: focus on being honest, kind, and true to your values. Thatโs your job.
What people make of it? Thatโs theirs.
When you stop chasing approval, you start finding peace. You make decisions based on your values, not other peopleโs reactions. You speak more freely. You stop apologizing for who you are. And most importantly, you make space for people who genuinely like and respect youโfor you.
This doesnโt mean you stop caring completely. It just means you stop bending yourself out of shape to fit into boxes you were never meant for. Some people will never understand youโand thatโs okay. Let them go in peace.
In the end, the only opinion you truly have control over is your own. Make sure itโs kind, forgiving, and grounded. You have to live with yourself every dayโnot them.
