We all know that nagging feeling creeps in when things don’t seem right. It’s like carrying a heavy backpack that keeps piling on bricks as the day passes. But have you ever stopped to wonder why we let worry take so much space in our lives?

Worry feels like a natural response, right? A big project deadline, a health scare, or even the future can trigger it. And while a little concern might push us to prepare better, most of the time, worry oversteps its bounds. It doesn’t just knock on the door—it moves in and makes itself at home. Here’s the thing: happiness doesn’t like sharing its space with worry. Think about it. When you’re worrying about what might go wrong, it’s hard to notice what’s going right. You might miss out on the joy of a sunny day, a kind word from a friend, or even that perfect cup of coffee because your mind is stuck replaying worst-case scenarios.

But why is worry so heavy? It’s because we feed it. Every “what if” adds another layer, making the load feel unbearable. And let’s be real—most of the things we worry about never even happen. It’s like paying interest on a loan you didn’t take out! So how do we lighten the load? Start small. The next time worry shows up, ask yourself: “Can I do something about this right now?” If the answer is yes, take action. If it’s no, try to let it go. Easier said than done, I know, but it’s a muscle you can build with practice.

Also, to make space for happiness. Enjoy the little things—a joke, a moment of quiet, or even your favourite song on repeat. These moments act like tiny weights of happiness that can tip the scale back in your favour.

Worry will always try to find its way back, but you’re stronger than it. Life is too short to let worry steal your happiness.
