Choosing the Right Company for Personal Growth

Man is a social animal, right? He wants to be surrounded by people all the time, or at least we are all surrounded by them. Have you all ever shared an exciting idea or a big dream with someone, only to have them brush it off or make you feel small? If yes, you’re not alone. It happens more often than it should, and that’s why choosing the right company is so important.

Mark Twain once said, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” Think about it. The people around you can either lift you up or pull you down. It’s like being in a boat—your friends are either rowing with you or making holes in the bottom. Good company matters because it shapes how you think and feel about yourself. You’ll feel inspired and confident if you’re surrounded by encouraging, supportive people. They’ll cheer for you, give you honest advice, and celebrate your wins as if they were theirs for this I have personally felt.

On the other hand, the negative company is like walking into a room filled with smoke—it clouds your vision and makes breathing hard. People who belittle your dreams aren’t necessarily evil; they just see the world through their fears and insecurities. But their doubts shouldn’t define your journey.

So, how do you choose the right company? Start by looking for people who genuinely want the best for you. These are the ones who listen without judgment, challenge you to grow, and remind you of your potential when you forget. They’re not afraid of your success because they know there’s enough room for everyone to shine. But don’t forget, this goes both ways. Be the kind of person who lifts others up. Celebrate your friends’ victories, encourage them when they’re struggling, and always remind them of their worth.

At the end of the day, life is too short to spend time with people who don’t believe in you. Choose wisely because the right company doesn’t just make life more enjoyable—it makes you believe in your greatness, too. So, are you rowing your boat with the right crew? Think about it. It’s nothing to take personally—just something worth reflecting on, which we generally face.
